Douglas Primary School
This week we celebrated the birthday of Dr. Seuss! Theodor Seuss Geisel was born March 2, 1904. This famous American writer and cartoonist was best known for his classic children's books, including The Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
Dr. Seuss activities for the week include:
- A quote from a Dr. Seuss book was read over the intercom each morning. Students may write down their guesses along with their names and place them in a box in the hall. Two winners from each grade level will be randomly selected and announced the following morning.
- A family Dr. Seuss hunt was sent home with students on Monday. Families must send the completed hunt back into school by Friday and a book raffle will be held. The winner will be randomly chosen on Friday afternoon.
- A class Dr. Seuss word scramble was handed out to all classes. The class that created the most words from the title will win a classroom prize.

Children's Clothing Drive
During the month of March, a clothing drive will be conducted in all schools. A bin is located in the foyer of the Primary School for clothing donations. Please bring gently used or new children's clothing to help children in need. All of these donations will be going to an organization called, "Cradles to Crayons." This organization gives children across Massachusetts the basic necessities they need.
This clothing drive is hosted by 8th grader Tristan Roberts, Project 351 Ambassador from Douglas Middle School. Project 351 is an organization that brings together an 8th grader from each of the 351 towns in Massachusetts. The purpose of Project 351 is to inspire 8th graders to serve for their community.
