Douglas Primary School

Week of January 5, 2015

Welcome Back! We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday break! Students are back to work this week and very busy in their classrooms.

"Baby it's cold outside!"
Please make sure that your child has mittens,  a scarf, hat, and a zipped up coat on these frigid January days!

The Primary School will  focus on our Core Value " CARING" for the month of January.

Students in Mrs. Dickinson's Kindergarten class made interlocking hands and wrote about what caring means. They were all displayed on a bulletin board for everyone to see. Nice Job!

Students in Mrs. Forest's class wrote about what "CARING" means and how they are caring children.

Zachary wrote- "Caring is thinking about others. I help Dad in the yard."

Bradley wrote- "Caring is thinking about others. I help with the laundry."

Riley wrote- "Caring is thinking about others. I feed my pets."

Mystery Readers

Mrs. Jane`'s Kindergarten class will be inviting "Mystery Readers" every Thursday  starting this week and continuing through March. Mystery Readers will bring a special story from home to read aloud to the class.  Mystery Readers will provide Mrs. Jane` with 3 clues about themselves so that the students can try to guess who the Mystery Reader is that day. Sounds like fun!

The Mystery Reader this week was Mrs. Rebecca Berchum. Mrs. Berchum surprised her son and read a story which was all about the letter D!!! This fit right into their Kindergarten curriculum this week!

Mrs. Berthiaume's Grade 1 class read a story about the missing birthday cake followed by students painting a picture of a cake. The word CAKE was a part of the lesson this week on long vowel A with the silent e.
